Downloading Your Products

As you have probably noticed by now, we have switched from using our own data storage facilities to using Dropbox for our digital distribution and access system. There were a few reasons for that - namely the speed difference, but also for higher security and also because we needed something more extendable that we could work with which would allow us flexibility in distributing updates and additional content to our users. Dropbox handles that much, much better than the ol’ FTP server did. Dropbox allows us to now create links to our product folders, which means that we don’t have to continue to manually change link addresses for each update or additional file we include in a product package. And since Dropbox now has an awesome versioning system with unlimited revisions, it helps us keep organized with old archives, in the case that someone needs it. Now, let’s go through the entire process, just in case anyone has a question about how in the world they’re supposed to use that funny looking encrypted file that most certainly does not look anything like a soundset or sample library.

•  Step 1: Download The File 

  First off, click on the “My Account” link at the top of the website on the black navigation bar. This will bring you to your downloads listing for each product you own. When you click on the link for a product, you should get something named “eST2t66CS” or relatively similar. The file will have no extension, and it needn’t one either. The file you’ve downloaded is an encrypted link to our private Dropbox folder containing all of the products we create.

•  Step 2: Open The File 

  Next, when you located your downloaded file, go ahead an rename it something like “DNR Sound Repository Folder” (or whatever you’d like), but don’t give it an extension. Double-click on the file and your system will ask you what you’d like it to do with the file. When presented with a list of programs that could possibly open it, choose your web browser of choice. The browser will open it gladly, and you will notice that you are now looking at the Dropbox folder contents for the specific product you’ve purchased.

•  Step 3: Bookmark The Folder 

  Last but not least - go ahead and bookmark the folder, because that folder is your quick access to new updates, additional content, help guides, etc. This means that each time we update the product, all you will have to do is click your bookmark for the specified product and away you go!
