Our newest project is concept created by reason lahalla called Wave Designer, which is a very unique and useful tool that allows users to create waveforms and export them to a number of synthesizer formats in order to be used as oscillators for synthesizers which support loading single-cycle waveforms. The software will be shipped as a plug-in instrument, allowing users to create waveforms visually and then preview the sounds in real-time with their MIDI keyboard.
Basic ConceptThe concept was created originally for sound designers who are tired of having very few tools to create single-cycle waveforms, and even more tired of not having a quick and painless method of exporting those waveforms in standard formats without having to fiddle around with 5 separate applications just to get a single waveforms created properly. Since then, though, we have added significant functionality, as well as accrued quite a list of possible features that would make the tool into a set of tools, and would give it a broad market appeal to just about anyone who makes music.
UI ScreenshotsBelow are a few interface design screenshots to show the current state of the software. As time goes on, we will be adding more features and options for exporting particular formats, and we will continue to update the page so that the newest current iterations are available right here.
Initial FunctionalityThe following is a list of features that the current iteration of Wave Designer currently contains. Each revision should bring additional features and fixes shown on the right side of the screen. As stated previously, this is an ongoing project that may take some time to complete, but will be our main focus, along with updating our Sound Repository for our users. Please feel free to contact us and suggest any features or format support, and we will do our best to include the most important and useful features for our V1 release.
DownloadsBelow you will find a few packages of waveforms created with Wave Designer. These waveforms have been created at 2048 samples, which is the standard for most supported synthesizers. We’re also going to add some good free formula and node-based presets from the newest version (0.3.9) for people to utilize with Wave Designer.
Community InvolvementWe have organized this project to get the sound design and audio production community involved where ever possible by opening a public discussion on KVR Audio to see what people have to say. It is our intention to continue working on new tools for this project until it is as useful as it can get, so please feel free to toss a suggestion in the discussion thread, or shoot us an e-mail with your idea. We’re happy to listen to suggestions and research each one and it’s benefits.
Pricing and Availability>> v0.3.9 is now available - login to download! Wave Designer is currently nearly at v1.0, and is available for $79.00 USD. As the program becomes more advanced, the price may indeed rise to accommodate the costs associated with the development of the application. Those who purchase the current version will get all the way up to v1.9.9 (if applicable) for free. A discount may be applied to v2.0 as well, but I haven’t gotten hat far yet, so I cannot say for sure. All the features on the right-hand sidebar are those which I intend on including for version 1.5+ and at least a majority of them will be included over the coming months.
